Welcome to The Sleepless Teacher! My love of educating has led me on a new journey to create printables for other teachers, parents, and homeschoolers in early childhood education.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I have two very active and imaginative little boys, whom my husband and I homeschool. When I was younger, my first and fourth grade teachers gave me the inspiration to become an educator. They were both like no other teacher I had, and I wanted to be like them. I wanted to be the kind of teacher that made children desire to come to school because they knew they would have fun. I wanted to be the teacher that everyone couldn’t wait to see the next day. I wanted to be the teacher who made learning enjoyable and understandable at the same time. I wanted to give others what those teachers gave me….wonderful, hands on experiences, and a love for learning more.

I have been an educator for over 20 years, teaching students from 3k through fifth grade, students who are English Language Learners, students with disabilities, and gifted students. Over the last seven years I’ve also mentored other educators, as well as, assisted in refining and creating school curriculum for 3k, pre-k, science, physical education, and first grade. I’ve spent countless amounts of time working with parents, providing ideas and activities focused on specific areas that can be used at home, to strengthen or challenge their child’s current skills.

I believe students learn best when using an interactive hands-on approach, which makes the experience become more personal and more memorable leaving them with a better learning experience. Students learn best by doing and being involved in activities. Using real visuals, or real items, wherever possible also helps to enhance the learning experience. You’ll see that I use real photos in my printable products, as long as it’s possible.

I know from my previous experiences, the impact the first years in school can have on children. Every single moment a child experiences is an important one, and those moments should be happy memories they take with them.

I’ve decided with all this knowledge, resources, and skills I have acquired throughout my years as an educator, that I want to help others make a difference in their children’s lives. As an educator, and mom, I’m always creating materials and thinking of ways to make things easier for my children and students. Every moment, is a teachable moment and there are endless possibilities.

The Sleepless Teacher Printables will be an asset for teachers, parents, and homeschoolers to use with their children and students. I’ve started creating printables to help with phonics, math, handwriting, and more. These early childhood educational resources are created using strategies, skills, and activities that I’ve used with my students, as well as, my own children, and have seen success.
